Manchester City are poised to step up their pursuit of in-demand RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
The Croatia international’s superb form for club and country this term has seen him emerge as a top defensive target for a host of European sides.
Gvardiol recently scored against the Citizens in the Champions League last 16 and now Pep Guardiola wants to bring the centre-back to the Etihad.
According to the Daily Star, City will use funds from the potential sale of Aymeric Laporte to Paris Saint-Germain in order to fund a move for the 21-year-old ace.
The Ligue 1 giants want reinforcements at the back and the Spain international is believed to be Christophe Galtier’s top choice.
Laporte, 28, has been in and out of Guardiola’s XI during five years in Manchester and the champions are said to be willing to part with him for £60m.
Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are also keen on Gvardiol, while Real Madrid are another potential suitor.
