Transfer Talk: Depay keen for United return in cut-price deal

Former Manchester United striker Memphis Depay is looking to seal an Old Trafford return with a January escape from Barcelona.

The Red Devils are looking for a striker to bolster their options up front and the Dutchman’s name has come up.

And Depay is extremely keen on the switch after struggling for playing time at Barca, according to reports in Spain.

He has featured in just two league games this season and has one goal in four appearances in total.

Depay, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and the 86-cap Netherlands star would be available for a relatively modest fee.

In addition, he may feel he has unfinished business in Manchester after struggling to light up the Premier League following his move from PSV Eindhoven in 2015.

The speedster, who scored once in five games at the Qatar World Cup, rebuilt his career in France with Lyon to earn the chance to prove himself at Barca but has found himself on the sidelines this season.

Reports in Saudi Arabia claim United have moved in a different direction by agreeing a loan deal for Al Nassr striker Vincent Aboubakar, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move in the opposite direction.
