Transfer Talk: Foxes eye Maguire return on loan

Leicester want to seal the return of Manchester United defender Harry Maguire on loan.

The Red Devils captain has fallen out of favour under Erik ten Hag, starting only twice in the Premier League in 12 games since the World Cup.

According to The Sun, his former side want to tempt their former defender back to the King Power Stadium as they look to shore up their leaky defence.

Maguire, 30, left the East Midlands for Old Trafford in an £80million deal in 2019 and the promise of increased minutes could tempt him back.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers believes the England international would be a huge coup and can improve a back-line that has conceded a league-high 49 goals this term.

A 2-1 defeat to relegation-rivals Crystal Palace yesterday saw Leicester slip in into the relegation zone as the battle for survival intensifies.

The Northern Irishman has also considered a move for Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Odilon Koussounou but believes Maguire’s return would top that.

He enjoyed two successful seasons there between 2017 and 2019, making 76 appearances and breaking into the Three Lions first team during his time with the club.
