Transfer Talk: France star Thuram is talk of the Toon

Newcastle are ready to ward off interest from other suitors and splash £10million on Marcus Thuram.

The Borussia Monchengladbach striker is out of contract next summer and free to talk to clubs outside Germany in January.

A member of France’s World Cup squad, the 25-year-old ace came on in the dying embers of their 4-1 win over Australia last night.

He has only appeared five times for Les Bleus, with yesterday his first appearance since the Euro 2020 last-16 defeat to Switzerland.

But a stunning start to the campaign for Gladbach saw him force his way into Didier Deschamps’ 26-man group for Qatar.

Ten goals in 15 Bundesliga games have also increased the number of clubs across Europe interested in signing him.

Newcastle already have Callum Wilson and £60million summer signing Alexander Isak up top but Eddie Howe is keen to carry on upgrading his squad.

Toon believe Thuram fits the profile of player they want, according to Football Insider, and would be a bargain at either £10m during the January sales or on a free at the end of the season.
