Transfer Talk: Liverpool and City battle for Barca wonderkid Gavi

Liverpool and Manchester City are set to go head-to-head to sign Barcelona wonderkid Gavi.

The 17-year-old has broken into both the Barca and Spain team this season and is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents.

The La Masia graduate is tipped for a bright future in the game and already has some big clubs chasing his signature.

The midfielder would ordinarily be made off-limits by the Blaugrana, but their financial situation means they are still looking to offload players.

That, El Nacional say, has Liverpool weighing up an offer for Gavi with the Reds ready to offer him a whopping £80k-per-week contract to convince him to head to Anfield.

It is indicated that the teenager’s current contract stands at just £1.8k-per-week, and it is unlikely the Catalan clubs would be able to match Liverpool’s offer.

Gavi is seen as the one of the stars of Barca’s future, while the player is favouring a stay at the Camp Nou.

But with his release clause at £41.7million the LaLiga outfit could be tempted to cash in.

Marca say there is also interest from Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Man City.

They would be able to offer similarly big wages, while Gavi may be tempted to learn under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola.
