Transfer Talk: Liverpool ready to steam ahead with Rice move

Liverpool remain interested in Declan Rice and want to make the England international their marquee midfield signing next summer.

The Reds have been pushing to sign Three Lions team-mate Jude Bellingham, 19, but are facing tough competition from the likes of Real Madrid and others.

That will see them turn their attention to landing Rice’s signature, according to Football Insider.

West Ham’s captain, 23, has also been the subject of intense speculation in recent seasons and Jurgen Klopp is said to be a huge admirer.

The German boss wanted to sign Rice in the most recent summer window but the Anfield club were unwilling to provide the funds for the deal.

A hefty price tag of £100million was quoted for Rice by the Hammers, with boss David Moyes even suggesting £150m should be the minimum.

But the midfielder’s fee is set to fall as he enters the final 18 months of his contract in the new year.

He has reportedly rejected multiple offers to extend his stay at the London Stadium, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2024.

Liverpool are expected to face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United for the London-born star.
