Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of highly-rated Benfica defender Antonio Silva.
The injury-hit Reds are looking to bolster their squad in the coming transfer windows after struggling to match their title rivals.
Both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have failed to find any consistency under Jurgen Klopp this season and Silva could be a solution to the defensive issues.
TeamTalk report that the 19-year-old has been on Liverpool’s radar for a while and the club could finally make a move.
The Portuguese colossus has been part of a Benfica squad that sits top of the Primeira Liga and topped their Champions League group ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.
He has also bagged three goals in 17 appearances for The Eagles and presents a significant aerial threat at 6ft 2in.
With the Merseysiders having done business with Benfica earlier in the year, a potential deal for the defender could be a smooth process with the two clubs having a relationship already.
But the Reds had to fork out nearly £100million for Darwin Nunez in the summer and the Portuguese outfit are known to command high fees for their talents.
