Transfer Talk: Magpies push hard to sign Lingard and Alli before the deadline

Newcastle are pushing hard to sign both Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli on loan before the January window closes.

The Manchester United and Tottenham pair are both out of favour at their clubs and have been strongly linked with moves away this month.

Magpies chiefs are desperate to bring in new faces before the transfer deadline on Monday as they look to steer clear of relegation trouble.

And the Telegraph say there is a growing confidence on Tyneside that Lingard, 29, will arrive within the next week even though United are yet to formally accept their bid.

Lingard will be a free agent in the summer but the report indicates Newcastle will tempt the Red Devils into allowing him to leave by offering a £5-6million loan fee while also covering the cost of his £80,000-a-week wages.

The same report says Newcastle want to secure a temporary move for Spurs outcast Alli too, though it remains to be seen whether they will bring in both England internationals.

The 25-year-old was left out of the Spurs squad for their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea and is clearly not in Antonio Conte’s plans, but there are still doubts over whether he is willing to swap North London for a relegation battle on Tyneside.

Elsewhere, the Mirror say Newcastle also want to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma before the window closes.

The Mali international, 25, was a reported target for Aston Villa earlier in the window but they turned their attentions elsewhere with the Seagulls supposedly unwilling to let their star midfielder leave mid-season.
