Transfer Talk: Newcastle and Villa eye Hazard move

Aston Villa and Newcastle are both interested in bringing Eden Hazard back to the Premier League.

Hazard, 31, has struggled to make an impact at Real Madrid since moving from Chelsea for £89million in 2019.

Despite the fanfare which accompanied his arrival, the Belgian has only managed seven goals in 72 appearances.

He was tipped with a move away in the summer but opted to say — now reports in Spain suggest his time is coming to an end.

After yesterday’s 4-1 victory at Southampton, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are up to third in the Premier League and continue to be ambitious in the transfer market.

Though Hazard has struggled at the Bernabeu, he was one of the world’s best players in the English top flight and 85 goals in 245 games.

The Magpies have been linked with big-name signings ever since their Saudi-backed takeover and may prove a nice landing spot for the Belgian.

Aston Villa are similarly ambitious and have form for this sort of transfer, having brought in Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona in January.

But that move has not been without its pitfalls and with Unai Emery only just taking over at Villa Park, a move seems unlikely.
