Transfer Talk: Premier League clubs set to scrap for Gakpo

Several Premier League clubs have been scouting PSV star Cody Gakpo in recent weeks.

Gakpo, 23, was subject to significant interest from both Southampton and Manchester United in the summer but a move never materialised.

Now, the Red Devils could return for the Netherlands international, but they would face heavy competition.

According to 90Min, representatives from more than half of the Premier League clubs were present at the clash between Ajax and PSV, with Gakpo the main man being watched.

The nine-cap international has been on top form in the Eredivisie in 2022-23, tallying 21 goal contributions in just 13 top-flight matches.

It has previously been mentioned that Gakpo would be sold for the right price, with the PSV board making promises to the winger should a top club come in for him.

The Eindhoven-born star has another three years left on his contract, so any fee would likely have to be in excess of £35million.

With such interest in securing Gakpo’s services, there may be a few moves made in January in an effort to sign the highly-rated youngster.
