Transfer Talk: United and Chelsea join Gunners in race for Isak

Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to rival Arsenal for the signing of Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak.

The Gunners have long been linked with a move for the forward but now face competition from their Premier League rivals, according to The Mirror.

United are looking for a young alternative to Cristiano Ronaldo and will be in the race for Erling Haaland as well as the Swede.

Chelsea splashed £99m on Romelu Lukaku last summer but the Belgian has not got the goals the Blues would have expected this season.

And in a controversial interview in December, the striker admitted he was frustrated with the playing style at Stamford Bridge and suggested he did not want to leave Inter Milan.

Isak, 22, has a release clause of £75million in his contract and is expected to leave the Spaniards this summer.

Sociedad will not listen to any bids beneath his release clause and will hope for a bidding war in the summer.

He has already played 32 times for Sweden and has netted eight times in all competitions this season, after scoring 17 last term.

Isak was not keen to talk about rumours in the January window but did not commit to Real long-term.

Isak said: “You can never be sure of anything.

“As I always say, you never know what can happen in football but in the end I’m here, happy, and nothing more.”
