Transfer Window predictions: Five players in demand this winter

– Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk is interesting Arsenal and Chelsea
– Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix also has admirers in the Premier League
– Sofyan Amrabat had a fine World Cup and could be on the move this month

The January transfer window is now open and off the back of the first-ever winter World Cup, we could see plenty of movement over the coming weeks.

There have already been some eye-catching transfers, most notably Liverpool’s capture of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, but where will some of the other big names being linked with moves this winter end up?

Chelsea could hijack Arsenal’s Mudryk move

Arsenal are flying high at the top of the Premier League, but manager Mikel Arteta is not resting on his laurels and is keen to bolster his squad this month, with Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk appearing to be his primary target.

The Gunners have been locked in talks with Shakhtar for some time regarding Mudryk and remain 4/5 with LiveScore Bet to sign the Ukraine international before the close of the window, despite reportedly having two bids already rejected.

Shakhtar value Mudryk at around £88million and if Arsenal do baulk at that asking price then it seems Chelsea are now waiting in the wings, with the Blues available at 9/5 with LiveScore Bet to snatch the winger from under the noses of their London rivals.

London duo also keeping tabs on Felix

It appears Arsenal and Chelsea have a very similar wish list this January, as they are also the two leading contenders with LiveScore Bet to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, with the Gunners 5/2 and the Blues 3/1.

Felix’s time at the Metropolitano Stadium appears to be coming to an end, as he has fallen out of favour with Atleti coach Diego Simeone, although the Portugal international will not be allowed to leave on the cheap, even if his move is only temporary.

Atleti paid Benfica a reported £114m to land the 23-year-old during the summer of 2019 and they are believed to want interested clubs to stump up over £13m just to take him on loan in January.

Manchester United, who are 7/2 to sign Felix with LiveScore Bet in this window, are also said to be keen, with a move to the Premier League appearing to be his most likely destination, although all interested parties may well be put off by that hefty loan fee.

Midfielders linked with Liverpool

There has been plenty of talk over the first half of the season regarding Liverpool’s need to strengthen their midfield and two players in particular have been linked with making moves to Anfield.

One is Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, who has been impressing in the Bundesliga over the last 18 months and further caught the eye for England at the World Cup.

Bellingham is 5/2 with LiveScore Bet to join Liverpool before the close of the window, while Real Madrid (7/2) and Manchester City (8/1) have also been credited with an interest, although perhaps the summer is a more likely time for the 19-year-old to leave Dortmund.

Another player that impressed at the World Cup was Sofyan Amrabat, as the Fiorentina star played a key role in Morocco’s run to the semi-finals in Qatar, with his performances seemingly catching the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs, including Liverpool.

At 26, Amrabat’s best years could still be ahead of him and he is 3/1 with LiveScore Bet to end the window as a Reds player.

The biannual Mbappe debate

No transfer window would be complete without speculation regarding Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, who, if anyone needed reminding, showcased his world-class talents during last month’s World Cup with France, including scoring a hat-trick in the final.

Mbappe has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, who are 4/1 with LiveScore Bet to secure his signature in this window, although Los Blancos may still be hurting after the forward seemingly rejected a move to the Bernabeu last year in favour of sticking with PSG.

Liverpool (7/1) have also been credited with a previous interest in Mbappe, while Manchester United may have room for a world-class striker within their squad and can be backed at 28/1 with LiveScore Bet to land the 24-year-old before the transfer deadline.
