Tuesday Carabao Cup predictions: Cherries to squeeze past Everton

– Recommended bets:
Back Burnley to win 4-0 at 15/2
Back Bournemouth to win at 17/10
Back Stevenage to win at 29/20

Round three of the Carabao Cup commences on Tuesday with the big Premier League hitters entering the competition following the first two chapters in August.

Those who qualified for European action are guaranteed entry to round three though the majority of them are playing on Wednesday evening.

It means some of the lesser-ranked teams in the competition get the chance to shine on Tuesday evening.

Burnley vs Crawley (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

The stats

Burnley were beaten for just the second time this season on Saturday when going down 5-2 at Sheffield United.

Vincent Kompany’s men have been very solid this season so the flurry of goals from the Blades in the second half will have come as a surprise.

A Carabao Cup tie against a struggling League Two outfit might be the ticket with Crawley coming into the game on the back of a 4-1 thumping against Accrington in the FA Cup.

The Sussex club have won just three of 16 league games this season and have already changed manager with Lewis Young in interim charge after Kevin Betsy’s exit.

Prediction

This one should be comfortable for Burnley who have yet to taste defeat at home this season.

Crawley have the second-worst defensive record in League Two and they are coming up against a Burnley side who have scored more in the Championship than anyone else — ergo a heavy win looks likely and a 4-0 victory for Burnley, priced at 15/2 via LiveScore Bet, looks tempting.

Bournemouth vs Everton (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

The stats

Bournemouth are stuttering at the minute and their 4-3 loss at Leeds was their fourth in a row which leaves them hovering just above the drop zone.

However, Everton were also beaten at the weekend, going down 2-0 at home to Leicester so this could be a meeting between two sides who have fragile confidence.

It might be one where both teams rest key players ahead of their final matches before the World Cup at the weekend.

Bournemouth can rely on their impressive record against the Toffees, losing only one of the last five meetings.

Prediction

The Cherries have a leaky defence but Everton have struggled for goals this season with only Wolves and Nottingham Forest netting fewer in the Premier League.

Eight of Bournemouth’s 13 points this season have come at home while Everton’s 1-0 win at Fleetwood in the second round of the Carabao Cup is one of just two wins they have secured away from Goodison Park this season.

It might be a scrappy game but Bournemouth to win, available at 17/10 with LiveScore Bet, could be the one to go for.

Stevenage vs Charlton (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

The stats

On Saturday, Stevenage were heavy favourites in a cup tie as they beat Gateshead 3-2 and now it is their turn to be underdogs against League One Charlton.

Steve Evans’ side have enjoyed a terrific season in League Two and are second after 17 games.

They have also beaten higher-ranked opposition in the first two rounds with Reading and Peterborough dispatched.

Charlton have won three of their last five league games but have generally been inconsistent this season, winning five of 17.

Predictions

Stevenage will make it very difficult for Charlton with their uncompromising long-ball football and Charlton will have to find a way to adjust.

Evans’ side have lost only one game at home this season and this will be a tough game for the Addicks despite the divisional difference.

Stevenage offer value to get the victory at 29/20 via LiveScore Bet.
