United agree deal for Real midfielder Casemiro

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign midfielder Casemiro.

The Brazilian international, 30, will join the club subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical, and will become the Red Devils’ fourth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez.

It means Erik ten Hag has finally got his hands on a quality defensive midfielder, one of the key positions he wanted to improve when he joined at the start of the summer.

Casemiro made 336 appearances for Los Blancos, winning five Champions Leagues and three LaLiga titles in the process.

He will not be available for Monday’s home game with Liverpool as he was not registered before Friday’s midday deadline.
