Wolves vs Crystal Palace predictions: Two teams tough to split at Molineux

– Wolves have won three of their last four at home
– Crystal Palace have won the pair’s last four meetings
– Recommended bet: Draw

Wolves and Crystal Palace have still to ensure their Premier League survival, although a win for the Eagles will take them to the magic 40-point marker.

Palace have won the last four meetings between the two but had lost three in a row at Molineux before breaking their duck last season, and now face a Wolves team which has won three out of their last four home matches.

Both sides go into Tuesday’s game on the back of mixed results against sides below them on Saturday — Wolves lost 2-1 at Leicester, while Palace drew 0-0 at home to Everton.

After troubled seasons, both teams may well be happy to take a point as they edge towards guaranteeing survival.

Team news

Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic has not played since September due to a knee injury, while Chiquinho is also set to miss the rest of the season with a similar issue.

Boubacar Traore is a doubt because a groin problem, while fellow midfielder Mario Lemina is also unlikely to feature as he battles a tight hamstring.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are again expected to be without Wilfried Zaha due to a hamstring injury, with the hope being that he will be able to return on Saturday at home to West Ham.

Nathaniel Clyne could also return at the weekend but will not be available at Molineux due to a knee problem, while Nathan Ferguson is pushing to feature.

However, Palace are keen not to rush a player who has made just one Premier League appearance since signing in July 2020.

The stats

Of Wolves’ nine wins this season, seven have come at Molineux, with five recorded since January.

Palace have won their last two away games in the league, triumphing 5-1 at Leeds before winning 2-0 at Southampton.

After winning 2-1 at home to Leicester in Roy Hodgson’s first game in charge, Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home to Everton means they have taken 10 points from the 12 available since the former England boss’ reappointment on March 22.

Changing manager has also worked out for Wolves.

The club were sat in the bottom three when they appointed Julen Lopetegui on November 14 and have since won seven of his 17 games in charge.

Prediction

Wolves and Crystal Palace will both be happy to see the end of an arduous season coming over the horizon but will be aware they still have work to do to retain their Premier League status.

With each having five games to play after this match, Tuesday’s tussle presents a perfect chance to get three vital points on the board.

Both Lopetegui and Hodgson will fancy their sides to win, and it promises to be an exciting game.

Rather than cancel each other out, it could be an end-to-end encounter, similar to October’s reverse fixture in which Palace came out on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline.

That contest produced 24 attempts and more of the same could be on the agenda in Tuesday’s match, although these two look tough to split on current form.
